"Check" Us Out!

Gingham Twins

. . .. . .

Have you noticed the gingham trend going around lately?

Both my husband and I own an article of gingham clothing. I have a navy gingham blouse and my husband has a pair of navy gingham shorts. We never really thought much about the fact that we had matching clothing until...
we accidentally wore our gingham clothing on the same day!

I had been having one of those mornings where I had changed my outfit over 5 times and was of course running late. I finally picked my outfit (gingham blouse) and both Steve and I quickly left the house to meet up with his family for breakfast. While running out to the car I did not realize that Steve was wearing his matching gingham shorts! It was not until we were in the car that we noticed our little mishap! I am sure as we ate our yummy breakfast at Corner Bakery with his family (in public) we most likely were the brunt of many jokes :)
Oh well, it made for a good laugh!

Is matching with your spouse really that bad?

YES!

(Isn't this pic hilarious !?!)

What Did My Wandering Eyes See?

I went to Target or "Tar-jay" as some of us like to call it ;)

and this is what I saw... BRACE YOURSELVES!!!

 pencils . crayons . backpacks . notebooks

NOOOOOOOOOOO, NOT YET!!!!!

only

JULY!

Though I am sad that summer will eventually be ending, I have to admit this commercial makes me laugh every time!

By now it is probably clear to most of you that I am a teacher!

I have taught 5th, 1st, 2nd and next year will be teaching 3rd grade ( I have almost taught every grade!) and I feel beyond blessed to be able to shape the lives of children both academically and personally as a teacher!

Since I will be teaching 3rd grade next year I have to  luckily get to change my classroom theme (bulletin boards, ect...). I actually love creating a fun and inviting learning environment for my students, but it is a lot of work, especially when your a bit of a perfectionist (yep, that is me!). My classroom theme is going to be geared towards outer space, so if you have any creative ideas of what I can do in my classroom, let me know! I have some ideas brewing, but could always use more!!!

. . . . . .

Luckily, I did find something at Target that helped distract me from all the back to school stuff :) I am so happy with this purchase that I absolutely had to share it with all of you! I might have even said,
"These are the best summer pj's I have ever had!!!"

I love that they are colorful, silky, lacy, and feminine!
Oooooohhhh, and they are currently on sale for $23.00, you just can't beat that!!!

Makes Me Smile :)

Do you have a spot in your home that just

makes you smile?

I do!

I love this spot in our apt. because it is a collection of old and new things that I put together to make a gallery wall and table vignette. I am a newly married gal, so I am always trying to find ways to decorate that will save money $$$! There's just something fun and even a little bit adventurous about searching and gathering up objects throughout your home to help create something eye catching and perfect for that certain spot!

1. I added our favorite photos from our Engagement Shoot
(made sure to use variations in size, color, and texture for the frames)

2. Goodwill Princess House candle stick holder
(growing up my mom had a pair of Princess House candle stick holders that as a little girl I thought were so pretty and sparkly. I randomly found a pair at Goodwill for $3.00... Score!!!
I love them because they remind me of my mom!)

3. Picnic Basket
(I always see at Pottery Barn how they add baskets or vintage looking suitcases under tables, but the price tag for a basket or suitcase can be high! So, I improvised and put a picnic basket under instead. It is a little small, but I still think it works! Most importantly, the picnic basket was a gift from Steve while we were dating, so it holds sentimental value!)

4. Flower Print Souvenir
(found this print while on a mother-daughter trip in North Carolina at the Elizabethan Gardens. Whenever I look at it, I am reminded of our fun trip!)

5. White Trellis
(a HomeGoods find that I love because it softens and lightens up the gallery wall)

6. DIY Monogram
(inspired from Anthropolgie. All I did was find a font on the computer and printed out my last name initial on cardstock. I was excited when I found this white oval frame at Target, it helped create the exact look I had envisioned!)

I encourage you that as you decorate your home make sure to add those special and memorable objects (old and new) because it will make it so much more than just decor!

And The Award Goes To...

Last night Steve and I got all dressed up at headed to the Nokia Theater for the Espy Awards! The Espy awards honor professional sport teams and athletes and there are always a few +*+celebrities+*+ who come to give an award or make an appearance. Of course my first thought was, "What am I going to wear!?!" Luckily, I was able to put an outfit together without having to go out shopping (of course that was tempting!).

Our "pretend" red carpet shot ;)

Unfortunately, we were not granted access to the red carpet (sad day), but I kept my eyes open for anyone who looked famous! Problem was the majority of the attendants were athletes and even though I have an eye for spotting celebrities, I am a little rusty when it comes to professional athletes.  However, Steve did his best pointing out athletes he thought I might know.

Luckily, the first presenter of the show was Jessica Biel! I loved her girly and flirty white dress, but my absolute favorite were her shoes! I just loved the bright neon yellow heel and thought it was the perfect statement item for her trendy look.

Are You Tough Enough?

To answer my question, "Are you tough enough?" I would have to reply with a definite, "No, I am not tough enough." However, on Saturday morning my husband proved that YES, he was and is tough enough to sucessfully complete the Tough Mudder 2012 in Big Bear, CA!
